How to plan the perfect Valentines day at home

Valentines day is fast approaching and this year things are a little different. Lockdown means no candle lit romantic meals in restaurants, less chance to browse for gifts and cards and no last minute runs to the florists when youve realised you've forgotten! But not to worry Hertfordshire is a wealth of local businesses and so we can help put the sparkle back into Valentines this year.

The Food

Nothing says I love quite as much as a big cake or fancy afternoon tea. Think ahead and order some yummy cakes from the Hertford Cake Co or perhaps an afternoon tea which can be collected from Bridgets Tea Room in Ware or The Chefs table.

If its a more substantial meal you are after consider ordering from happening in herts who have out together a steak meal box for two, with goodies sourced from local Herts businesses.

Of course the supermarkets also offer "Dine in for 2" meals with Tescos, Asda and M&S offering a selection of starters, main courses, desserts and wine for just £20.

The Flowers

The good news is you can still order flowers from florists, although you must preorder and either have them delivered or click and collect them, you can find some local florist suggestions here.

A Valentines walk?

One of the fews things not banned currently is a nice country walk with all that is going on at the moment its easy to get destracted but why not plan a romantic family walk somewhere pretty. We highly recommend Tewin which is beautiful.

Some me time?

Yes Valentines is about spending time together but perhaps in the current times the greatest gift of love you could show is granting your significant other some "me" time. A lay in, breakfast in bed, an uniteruppted bath, a cup of tea in peace with time to read a book. Simple and free things that are sure to make your loved ones day.

Involve the little ones

Valentines is traditionally about couples, but theres no reason you can't chose to mark the day with your little people instead (or as well) . Make heart shaped cookies or decorate some cupcakes together (use haribo hearts as decoration) , cuddle up and watch a film together and just enjoy spending some quality time together. If you dare, let them dress you both for your date night!

CHOCOLATES

Using the very best Couverture chocolate sourced from Barry Callebaut. LONGWORTH CHOCOLATES chocolates have no artificial additives, no preservatives and no added sugar unless otherwise stated.

You may be late to the party for Valentine’s Day, but think ahead for these in demand chocolates that are posted out... MOTHERS DAY will soon be upon us. What a treat for a loved one.

Happy Valentines! x
